Harley Quinn, originally Dr. Harleen Quinzel, is a fictional character appearing in DC Comics. Her first appearance was in The Batman Adventures #12 (September 1993), a comic book based on the TV Show.

Once a promising psychiatrist at Arkham Asylum, Dr. Quinzel was assigned to treat the Joker. During their sessions, she became infatuated with him and ultimately aided his escape, transforming into his devoted accomplice, Harley Quinn.

Harley is characterized by her playful, yet psychopathic nature, often employing slapstick violence. Despite her abusive relationship with the Joker, she frequently demonstrates moments of vulnerability and a desire for normalcy. She is known for her distinctive red and black jester-like costume in many of her appearances.
